MUNCIE, IN — For more than five decades, the Hamilton Township Volunteer Fire Company’s annual Hog Roast has brought neighbors together for great food, family fun, and a shared commitment to supporting the volunteers who serve Hamilton Township. The tradition continues on Saturday, Sept. 12, as the department hosts its 52nd Annual Hog Roast from 11 a.m. to 8 p.m., or until sold out, at Station 1, 8021 N. State Road 3 in Muncie.
Guests can enjoy an all-you-can-eat pork dinner featuring a baked potato, green beans, applesauce, a cookie, and a drink. Hot dog meals will also be available for children. Meals are $17 for adults and $12 for children. Dine-in, carryout, and delivery options will be available, and both cash and credit cards are accepted.
In addition to the meal, the event will feature a full day of family-friendly entertainment, including a DJ, live music from Sarah Barton & The 2nd That Band from noon to 2:30 p.m., local vendors, raffle prizes, and a dedicated Kids Zone with bounce houses from A-1 for Fun, a children’s book giveaway sponsored by United Way, and more. The department is currently seeking additional local musicians and bands interested in performing during the event, as well as community partners interested in helping expand the Kids Zone.
The event will include the Anything on Wheels Car Show presented by Gray’s Garage. Vehicle registration opens on-site at 1 p.m., with the show taking place from 2 to 6 p.m. There is no pre-registration, and entries are accepted on a first-come, first-served basis. From classic cars and lifted trucks to motorcycles, tractors, side-by-sides, wagons, and even Power Wheels, if it has wheels, it’s welcome. Vehicle registration is $10 or a bag of diapers, with diaper donations benefiting local families. Spectators are welcome to attend at no cost.
Discounted presale tickets, which save attendees $2 per ticket, are available now from any Hamilton Township Volunteer Fire Company firefighter. Community members may also purchase tickets by messaging the department on Facebook (@hamiltontwpfire) or by emailing hamiltontownshipvolunteerfire@gmail.com. Purchasing tickets in advance helps the department better prepare for the event while allowing attendees to save money and skip the line on event day.
“The Hog Roast is more than a fundraiser—it’s a tradition that brings our community together,” Chief Dylan Haupt said. “People come for the food, but they stay for the fellowship. Every meal purchased helps ensure our volunteer firefighters have the training, equipment, and resources they need to continue serving Hamilton Township. We hope you’ll join us and become part of that tradition.”
The annual Hog Roast serves as one of the department’s primary fundraisers, helping support equipment, training and resources while strengthening the department’s connection with the community it serves throughout the year.
“Volunteer fire departments are built on community,” Assistant Chief Shane Stilts said. “Whether you’re enjoying dinner, shopping with a local vendor or buying raffle tickets, you’re supporting the volunteers who are ready to answer the call when our neighbors need us most.
