MUNCIE, IN – Cornfed Roller Derby (CFRD), Muncie’s premier flat-track roller derby league, is gearing up for its 13th season and inviting new skaters and officials to join the team. The league will host New Skater Clinics at Gibson Arena on Thursday, September 18, from 8:30–10:30 p.m. and Monday, September 22, from 7–9 p.m.
The clinics are open to all skill levels, and no prior experience is required. For just $5 per person, participants, who must be at least 18 years old, will learn fundamental skating skills including falls, stops, and an introduction to roller derby gameplay.
Participants are required to wear quad skates, a helmet, knee pads, elbow pads, wrist guards, and a mouth guard. While some gear will be available to borrow during the clinic, attendees must bring their own mouth guard.
Following the clinics, CFRD will launch a New Skater Bootcamp, giving participants the opportunity to build on their skills and further immerse themselves in the sport. Bootcamp sessions will be held on September 25 and 29, and October 2–27 (Mondays, 7–9 p.m., and Thursdays, 8:30–10:30 p.m.). The cost is $5 per session, capped at $25 per month, with limited loaner gear available.
Gibson Arena, located at 2610 S. Mock Ave., Muncie, has been home to Cornfed Roller Derby since 2010. In 2025, Gibson Arena was recognized in the Muncie Quest for the Best as Best Children’s Birthday Party Venue and Best Family Fun.
