MUNCIE, IN — Center Township Trustee Kay Walker announced the official opening of the Lone Pine Lodge Family Shelter, a new community resource designed to provide safe, short-term housing and supportive services for families experiencing homelessness in the Muncie area. The shelter will celebrate its grand opening with a ribbon-cutting ceremony on Friday, November 14, at 1214 E. Main St., Muncie, Ind.
The Lone Pine Lodge Family Shelter represents years of collaboration among local partners, faith organizations, and community volunteers, reflecting a shared commitment to providing dignity, safety, and stability for township residents. The facility will offer temporary housing, case management, and resources to help families transition into permanent homes.

The opening of Lone Pine Lodge adds to Trustee Walker’s long record of community service initiatives, including Hearts and Hands United Tools for Schools annual Backpack Giveaway, and the Gift Lift program, which provides holiday gifts for local nursing home residents. Her office continues to lead efforts to strengthen families and improve quality of life throughout Center Township.
Community members, local organizations, and media are invited to attend the ribbon-cutting and tour the new facility. Refreshments will be provided, and attendees will have an opportunity to learn about volunteer and donation opportunities.
