MUNCIE, IN — Muncie Civic Theatre invites audiences to experience Wiesenthal, a gripping one-man play that brings to life the true story of Simon Wiesenthal, the famed Nazi hunter who dedicated his life to seeking justice in the aftermath of World War II.
Running April 24 through April 26, this intimate and thought-provoking production stars veteran actor Michael Kleeberg in a commanding solo performance. Under the direction of Sara Crigger, Wiesenthal explores themes of memory, accountability, and the enduring impact of history on our present day.
Set years after the war, the play reflects on Wiesenthal’s relentless pursuit of justice and the personal cost of that work. Through storytelling that is both compelling and deeply human, audiences are invited to consider what it means to remember, to act, and to stand up in the face of injustice. With minimal staging and a singular performance at its center, Wiesenthal creates a powerful and immersive theatrical experience that relies on the strength of its story and the connection between actor and audience.
Director Sara Crigger shares, “Wiesenthal is one of those stories that just sticks with you. It’s about one person choosing to do the right thing, even when it’s hard, and that feels really relevant right now.”
Michael Kleeburg brings depth and nuance to the role, guiding audiences through moments of reflection, tension, and even unexpected humor. His performance highlights not only the historical significance of Wiesenthal’s work, but also the humanity behind it, offering a portrayal that is both accessible and deeply moving for modern audiences.
This limited three-day run offers a unique opportunity for audiences to engage with an important historical story in an intimate setting. With only a handful of performances, patrons are encouraged to secure their tickets early and be part of a meaningful shared experience.
Performances will take place April 24 through April 26 at Muncie Civic Theatre. Tickets are available now at munciecivic.org.
