MUNCIE, IN—After an extensive national search, the Board of Directors at Open Door Health Services is pleased to announce Amelia E. Clark, DrPH, as its new chief executive officer and president. Dr. Clark will begin on July 6, succeeding Bryan Ayars, who will retire in mid-July after 10 years of leadership and service.

Before coming to Open Door, Dr. Clark served as the executive director and founder of the Center for Integrated Public Health and Research and professor in the Department of Medical Sciences at the University of Saint Francis in Fort Wayne, Indiana. She earned a Doctorate in Public Health from Indiana University and has over 20 years of experience in community health leadership. Dr. Clark brings expertise working with federally qualified health centers (FQHCs), including integrating primary care and behavioral health, as well as maternal-infant health research and initiatives.

“Dr. Clark demonstrates a strong commitment to community health, employee engagement, and mission-driven leadership,” said Ken Hudson, Open Door Board President. “The Board of Directors is confident that Dr. Clark’s experience in FQHCs, public health, grant development and management, strategic planning, and organizational leadership will be valuable in strengthening our impact. We look forward to partnering with Dr. Clark to build on more than 50 years of service in East Central Indiana.”

Throughout her career, Dr. Clark’s work has consistently aligned with Open Door’s mission to improve quality of life and promote health equity, social justice, and community impact.

“Returning to Muncie feels like coming home. Open Door Health Services has long been a trusted anchor in our community, providing exceptional care to families across East Central Indiana. I am excited and deeply honored to lead this remarkable organization and to continue strengthening the health and well‑being of the communities we serve.”

The Board of Directors extends its gratitude to Bryan Ayars for a decade of leadership, commitment, and care that has made a lasting difference at Open Door and across the community.
