By: Kristina Clemens— Muncie, IN—In an industry where 96 percent of new firms go out of business within five years, Clemens Home Solutions has grown and prospered for more than two decades. John Carlson: Got The World On a String…

By: John Carlson— These days, I keep thinking I could use a kite. That’s because kites are such happy creations, a fact which has been reinforced in my life on repeated occasions, starting with Mr. Heffernan. Back in the 1950s, he was the neighbor across our backyard fence, the father of my friend Donny, and had a magical way with kites. He’d scribble a question on a slip of paper, like “Who is the greatest TV cowboy? Roy Rogers, Hopalong Cassidy or the Lone Ranger?” Tying the note to the string just below a kite, he’d send it skyward. Then…

MCS To Address Diversity, Equity and Inclusion

By: Lee Ann Kwiatkowski , Director of Public Education & CEO , Muncie Community Schools— Muncie, IN—In light of yet another senseless killing of an unarmed black man at the hands of the police, we at Muncie Community Schools (MCS) want to reaffirm our commitment to diversity, equity and inclusion. There is no justification for anything less. Racism and racist violence, by action or inaction, is intolerable and unacceptable. The Black Lives Matter movement must include all of us as we support our black and brown students, teachers, staff and families. It is not a black problem, but a global problem.  Black lives matter and…
