Yorktown Middle School Students Win Best in State in Verizon App Challenge

By: Mike Rhodes— Yorktown, IN—Verizon awarded its Best in State Innovative Learning App Challenge to Yorktown Middle School. The Yorktown team received Verizon’s Innovative Learning App Challenge prizes at an afternoon rally today for the entire sixth-grade class. The rally was organized this afternoon by the school and nearly 200 students attended. Prizes included $5,000 for Yorktown Middle School and tablets with 4G LTE service for each team member. Area Tobacco Agencies Support HUD Ruling on Smoke-Free Housing

Foley, MAE— Muncie, IN—The Tobacco Free Delaware County Coalition enthusiastically supports the recent ruling by the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD) to require all public housing agencies to implement smoke-free policies for all residential units and common areas. The ruling will affect 30 housing authorities in Indiana, including Muncie. Housing authorities in East Chicago, Fort Wayne, Fremont, Indianapolis, Kendallville, Kokomo, Mishawaka, Mount Vernon, and Peru have already adopted smoke-free policies for their properties.
