Muncie Family Builds a Curbside “Little Free Library” in Johnson Woods Addition

By: Mike Rhodes— Early Saturday morning, August 15th, there was something “a buzz” in a Johnson Woods neighborhood near Storer Elementary School. Not that there was anything unusual about that. Craig Priebe, an accomplished carpenter, could often be heard working on a new carpentry project outside his home. By the end of the day, his newest project was finished and residents in the neighborhood eagerly stopped by to take a peek at Craig’s new handiwork. Craig had built and installed a Little Free Library at the end of his family’s driveway, complete with bench seating, concrete pavers and companion statue of a bulldog puppy….

Kinghorn is a 2014 graduate of Yorktown High School and is currently a sophomore majoring in accounting at Ball State University. He is the son of Tom and Nichole Kinghorn. Approximately 3,000 high school students are participating in the East Central Region’s Dual Credit program. Dual Credit is a program that allows high school students to remain in the high school classroom and earn credits toward both high school graduation and college, all while saving on the cost of college tuition. Back to School Heroes and Helpers to be Held August 8th

By: Ana Maria Pichardo— The annual Back to School Heroes and Helpers, formerly known as Back to School Shop with a Cop, event will be held Saturday August 8th, 2015. Children are selected by the Salvation Army and their organization assists in shopping with children on that day. Muncie Crime Stoppers has raised the funding through grants from several local companies and foundations. Funding has also been obtained by Crime Stopper Board members who sold raffle tickets for a cash award raffle at the Delaware County Fair. To become an Eagle Scout, one must earn a minimum of 21 merit badges, complete an Eagle Scout Community Project and take a leadership role for a set amount of time in a Boy Scout Troop. Charlie needed 21 merit badges to obtain his Eagle Scout designation. He earned 137—every badge the Boy Scout program offers. His sash is completely covered—front and back—with brightly colored, embroidered merit badges. Statistically, 6 percent of Boy Scouts earn the Eagle Scout designation.
