FREE Central Indiana Audio Student Workshop to be Held at Ball State on Sept. 12

By: Gail Werner— The Central Indiana section of the Audio Engineering Society will host its fourth annual Central Indiana Audio Student Workshop on Sept. 12 at Ball State’s Sursa Hall. The event is free. The workshop will let audio students and professionals network and improve their skills through interactive demonstrations, lectures and panel discussions. Cornerstone’s Fall 2015 Arts Program Classes Announced

Classes begin Monday, September 14 and run through Thursday, December 10 with a break the week of October 12th. Muncie Family Builds a Curbside “Little Free Library” in Johnson Woods Addition

By: Mike Rhodes— Early Saturday morning, August 15th, there was something “a buzz” in a Johnson Woods neighborhood near Storer Elementary School. Not that there was anything unusual about that. Craig Priebe, an accomplished carpenter, could often be heard working on a new carpentry project outside his home. By the end of the day, his newest project was finished and residents in the neighborhood eagerly stopped by to take a peek at Craig’s new handiwork. Standout BSU Trumpet Alumnus Places Third in International Jazz Competition

By Lisa Renze-Rhodes Adam Marchand came to Ball State with modest musical beginnings but left four years later having earned international acclaim for his skills as a jazz trumpeter. After graduating from Ball State this spring, Marchand, who studied trumpet performance in the School of Music, snagged a third place finish in this year’s International Trumpet Guild Jazz Improvisation Competition, May 26-30 in Columbus, Ohio. The LaGrange native was one of three musicians from around the world selected for the final round of the competition, receiving a $500 cash prize with the award. By: Steve Lindell— Muncie marked two major milestones—the 150th anniversary of the city and America’s Independence Day—with a spectacular fireworks performance by the world renowned Fireworks by Grucci on July 4th at the Muncie Central grounds. The annual Set the Night to Music July 4th display is supported annually by Woof Boom Radio stations, 104.9 WERK-FM, 104.1 WLBC, 93.5 MAX, and 102.9 FM and 1340 AM Fox Sports Radio.
