Muncie, IN—The Horizon Convention Center, Muncie’s premiere meeting space, is an innovative mix of historic beauty and modern design. Formerly Muncie’s Federal Building, the Horizon Convention Center’s beauty is evident in the glass-enclosed pavilion, outdoor terrace and classical splendor of the lobby’s original interior.

In 1986, the Delaware County Advancement Corporation purchased the building and decided upon the name, “The Horizon Convention Center.” In 1988, the building opened with 10,300 square feet of meeting space. In 1996, a renovation project increased meeting space to 47,000 square feet. The addition of the Muncie Children’s Museum brought the total property space to 158,000 square feet.

Today, the Horizon Convention Center hosts hundreds of local and regional events every year, ranging from small organizational meetings to large state conferences and expositions.

Adjacent to the Horizon Convention Center, visitors will find convenient accommodations in the new Courtyard by Marriott at Horizon Convention Center. The hotel offers travelers contemporary design, comfortable accommodations and innovative technology that combine to provide guests with a seamless lodging experience.

Exposition Halls and Meeting Rooms

The Horizon Convention Center features a total of 14 rooms available for meetings and conferences. They range in size from 400 square feet to 23,400 square feet. Smaller rooms of various sizes are perfect for conference breakout sessions. Delaware Hall is ideal for large conventions, banquets and trade shows. Interurban Hall is the second largest room at the Horizon Convention Center and can be divided into smaller rooms to allow smaller groups to use the elegant room without feeling overwhelmed by its size.

Audio Visual Services

The Horizon Convention Center offers in-house AV services through AMS Entertainment & Audiovisual. AV is an important aspect of almost every conference, convention and meeting held at the Horizon Convention Center. From microphones, screens and projectors, to mood-setting specialty lighting, photo booths, DJs, racing and casino games, and more…AMS can make it all happen for your event.

Catering

The Horizon Convention Center specializes in flawlessly presented food creations that celebrate traditional, regional and ethnic flavors through the use of only the freshest ingredients – premium meats, vegetables, fruits, and herbs combined with innovative preparation techniques. Their gifted chef and culinary experts are skilled at appealing to many distinct tastes and preferences.

Parking Garage

While the Horizon Convention Center has easy access to street-level parking, just south of the facility you’ll find a parking garage with 400 spaces. The garage features a covered walkway to the adjacent Courtyard by Marriott Hotel and there’s also an enclosed corridor to the Horizon Convention Center. The parking garage includes charging stations as a convenience to customers who drive electric vehicles.

What Customers Are Saying About The Horizon Convention Center

“This was our third year to hold our conference at the Horizon Convention Center in Muncie. The Horizon Convention Center has been a great host for us, and the adjacent Courtyard by Marriott is great, too. This year we were probably up another 200 people for our conference and the Horizon Convention Center always does a nice job hosting our kids and advisors.”—Brenda Osman, board chair of Indiana FCCLA

“The Horizon Convention Center staff was great. Whatever needs we had, the staff quickly accommodated us. They made things happen.  They did a great job for all of our setups, like the health fair, the job fair and all of our workshops in addition to the lunches and breakfasts we had. The food was great.”—George Foley, Jr., NAACP Indiana State Convention chair

“Muncie is a central location and one of our members recommended we come here. So, we did and it’s been a great experience. Our conference was wonderful and we really appreciated the hospitality of the employees and staff at The Horizon Convention Center. Anytime we needed something they were always there for us. And even when we didn’t need something, they were still there for us. They were just fabulous! We will definitely be back.”—Kelly Heckaman, board chair, Purdue Extension Midwest Women in Agriculture Conference.
