Nominees Announced for 3rd Biennial Mayor’s Arts Awards

Muncie, INThe Muncie Arts and Culture Council (MACC), in conjunction with the City of Muncie, will celebrate the 3rd biennial Mayor’s Arts Awards on Friday, Sept. 13, at Muncie Civic Theatre.

The Mayor’s Arts Awards are the most prestigious honors given by the city to individual artists, teachers, non-profit organizations, and patrons of the arts. Awardees will be honored during the Mayor’s Arts Awards Ceremony, beginning at 7 p.m. on Civic’s Main Stage. The Awards Ceremony and following Community Reception are free and open to the public. Mayor’s Arts Awards nominations were accepted in eight distinct categories: Arts Advocate, Arts Leader, Arts Educator, Corporate Arts, Artist in the Community, Next Generation Artist, Maker, and Lifetime Achievement. MACC congratulates this year’s nominees:

Nominations were reviewed and awardees were selected by a panel of local and regional representatives from the arts and business worlds. Nominees will be recognized and awardees will be announced during the ceremony.

In recognition of MACC’s first 10 years of supporting local arts and culture, this year’s event promises to be a truly spectacular celebration of our arts communities. The entertainment-filled evening will be led by emcees Laura Williamson of Muncie Civic Theatre and Michelle Kinsey of Indiana Public Radio and WIPB-TV. Live musical and theatrical performances will be showcased between award announcements. After the ceremony, stay for drinks and dancing at the community reception, featuring music by DJ Jannell, locally brewed beers on tap, and late night snacks.

Guests are also invited to join the MACC Board of Directors at Muncie Civic Theatre for a VIP Reception prior to the awards ceremony. Distinguished guests will include 2017 Mayor’s Arts Awards recipients and the 2019 nominees.
