MUNCIE, IN  – The Boys & Girls Club of Muncie has reached just over half its $70,000 goal in the 2016 annual fundraising campaign. Launched March 31 during the annual Open House, the campaign will add resources, staff and focus to the Club’s academic and teen programs.

The ongoing necessity to serve Kids in the community is great, and resources need to grow along with the demand. The academic programming requirement is for after-school tutors, which increases the ability to interact in smaller groups and one-on-one with the Club Kids. In teen programs, an increase in attendance requires the Club to fully staff five days each week, primarily in the evenings. This allows for ongoing mentoring, adult role models, and dedicated space for teens.

“We have set goals for this campaign at higher levels than we have in the past,” said Juli Metzger, board president, Boys & Girls Club of Muncie. “Our community and our kids have a great need for our time, resources, space and academic assistance. Year after year we continue to serve these kids with fewer resources that we would like. Our hope is that the community will help us to continue to meet these needs.”

There are more ways than ever to give.

“The campaign has been fun this year with more ways to give and support our Club,” says Micah Maxwell, executive director, Boys & Girls Club of Muncie. “We’ve launched a ‘text to give’ campaign and partnered with Wasson Nursery to offer a special flower basket. We appreciate all that our community and partners have done to get us to this point and hope that we can continue our positive momentum to help us reach our goal.”
