What People are Saying About the Muncie Journal

By: Mike Rhodes— When we started planning for the launch of the Muncie Journal, we openly discussed the issue of whether or not to allow user comments on our stories. It did not take us long to decide not to. We felt that there were numerous other options for people to share and comment on Muncie Journal stories via social media. We didn’t really have a good feel for what people thought about the Muncie…

Yorktown’s Major Girls Softball (Team Indiana) Falls Just Short Against Team Iowa

By: Casey Stanley— The stage was set. I’m talking movie script type stuff. At stake? A trip to the Little League® Softball World Series. Win or go home. The #1 and #2 seeds squaring off in the championship game. Two undefeated tourney teams who had breezed through their first five tournament games. 15-year Community Investment Puts Yorktown on a Path to the Little League® World Series

Story and Photos By: Casey Stanley— When considering community development options, many city governments jump at the opportunity to build new homes, parks, restaurants, and offices to attract business, and raise standards of living. Fewer make youth sports a strategic focal point. For the town of Yorktown, Ind., however, it just made sense. “The highly-rated quality of life for the Town of Yorktown can be directly attributed to our various community organizations, and more importantly the people involved with those groups,” says Pete Olson, Yorktown Town Manager. “Parents, sponsors, volunteers, and participants in the community provide positive benefits, by teaching…
