Yorktown 12U Tigers Hold On Against Kentucky 13-7

By: Casey Stanley— Lexie Robertson led Yorktown – both from the plate and the mound – to victory against Kentucky on Monday 13-7 to improve to 2-0 in pool play at the Little League® Central Region Majors (12u) Softball tournament in Indianapolis. Yorktown continues play Tuesday at 11:00 a.m. and 2:00 p.m. The earlier contest is a continuation of a game that was postponed from Sunday (due to weather) against Ohio from Sunday. The Tigers will pick up play in the bottom of the third inning up 7-0. The later contest is against Illinois, who is 1-2 in pool play….

Yorktown JAA (Team Indiana) Leads 7-0 Before Play Is Suspended by Weather

By: Casey Stanley— After a big opening round win against Team Nebraska on Saturday in the Little League® Majors (12U) Softball Regional Tournament, Team Indiana (Yorktown JAA) continued pool play against Team Ohio yesterday. The game was suspended after two and a half innings because of rain. The game against Team Ohio will pick up in the bottom of the third and continue on Tuesday. Before play was suspended, Yorktown jumped out to a 7-0 lead after two and a half complete innings. The Tigers were paced by catcher Ainsley Phillips, who was 2-2 with 3 RBI’s, and shortstop Lexie…

Rally Sparks Win for the Yorktown Jaa LL 12U Softball Tigers

By: Casey Stanley— Team Indiana, a/k/a the Yorktown 12U girls tournament softball team, opened play last night at the Central Region Little League tourney against a very strong Nebraska team. At stake in this tournament is a trip to the Little League world series in Portland, OR. An eight-run explosion in the fifth inning spurred the Yorktown team to a 9-1 win in six innings over Nebraska on Saturday. They scored in the fifth on an RBI singles by Delaney Boyd and Katelan Godwin, a two-run single by Hannah Avila, and a two-run double by Anna Stanley. Anna ignited the big…

2nd Annual Downtown Throwdown CrossFit Competition Celebrates Fitness

Drawing 33 athletic teams from Bloomington, South Bend, and other surrounding areas, the event kicked off at 9 a.m. and finished at 4 p.m. Three workout divisions by both male, and female teams, as well as co-ed teams competed. The Ball State athletic department, in conjunction with corporate partner Terrance Smith Distributing, Inc., is proud to welcome the world-renowned Anheuser-Busch Clydesdales to Scheumann Stadium on Thursday, July 16th. In addition, Remember the Titans will be shown on a giant screen creating a fun, free, family event – Cards and Clydesdales Family Movie Night! Inaugural Morry Mannies Radio Scholarships Announced

Two local high school students are the inaugural recipients of the Morry Mannies Woof Boom Radio Scholarship. Each nominee was very deserving for their achievements athletically and in the classroom. It was a thrill to watch these student athletes compete with emotion, sportsmanship, and character all year long. This year’s winners are: Riley Miller (Yorktown High School) has been awarded this year’s Morry Mannies Woof Boom Radio Scholarship. BSU Students Play Role in NCAA Men’s Basketball Championship

Ball State University’s Sports Link, the nation’s first fully immersive digital sports production program, will again play a role in one of the largest sporting events in the country — the 2015 NCAA Division I Men’s Basketball Championship. Double Overtime. Yorktown Loses to Hamilton Heights in Sectional Final

Guts. Resiliency. Want. All three of these important words embodied the way Yorktown played in their Sectional Final loss to Hamilton Heights 55-52 in double overtime. The latter of those three words was the message wanted to send to its opposition. They relayed that message well. That wasn’t the reason for their defeat.
