New Southside Muncie Sports Development Groundbreaking Held at Ross Community Center

By: Jacqueline Hanoman— Muncie, IN— Ross Community Center entered a new phase of its development today, when it broke ground on the construction of new sports facilities on six acres it purchased earlier this year of the former Chevy property in the Thomas Park/Avondale neighborhood of Muncie. Ball Brothers Foundation Awards Grants for Visionary Projects

MUNCIE, IN—Ball Brothers Foundation awarded $3.7 million in grants to nearly a dozen organizations during its final grantmaking round of the year. The grants were approved at the foundation’s board meeting in October. Two particular grants were awarded for visionary projects that will have a transformative effect on the Muncie community. The first was a grant to Delaware Advancement Corporation for its five-year “Vision 2021” plan. The “Vision 2021” plan sets aggressive goals for community improvements that will retain residents, provide job and wealth-building opportunities, raise the standard of living in the community, and attract new talent. Since starting the event, we have raised over $600,000. Muncie Arts and Culture Council Partners with Madjax to Expand Opportunities for Local Arts Community

MUNCIE, Ind.—Madjax and Muncie Arts and Culture Council (MACC) have signed an agreement to operate MACC arts programs within the Madjax facility. These programs will include curation of the facility’s art gallery space and programming. Additionally, artist memberships to the studio, shared working spaces, and workshop spaces will be available in the makerspace. By: Mike Rhodes— MUNCIE, IN— The Boys & Girls Club of Muncie hosted the annual Trunk-or-Treat and Fall Festival at Heekin Park on Friday, October 28th.   Local businesses and organizations lined Heekin Park in Muncie to hand out candy and goodies as kids and families walked through the park dressed in costumes. Trunk-or-Treat was scheduled to begin at 4pm, and before the official start time, the line to get in was roughly 600 feet long.  Once opened, the line moved quickly as children and their parents rushed to get candy from 91 separate vehicle trunks filled with candy and goodies. MUNCIE—Ball Brothers Foundation has selected Ron Orebaugh, board chairman of Delaware County Soil & Water Conservation District (DCSWCD), as the 2016 winner of the John W. and Janice B. Fisher Governance Award. The award was presented at the Muncie-Delaware County Chamber of Commerce’s dinner on October 27.
